Rocks Road Seaside

Rocks Road Nelson at low tide. Looking in a northerly direction towards Post Nelson. In many spots along Rocks Rd, the council has placed stairways down from the road to the shore line, these steps are more commonly used by locals to go for a dip in the protected waters of the haven when the tides are fuller.

Local Cows are an intelligent lot.

Gary Larsen would be happy.

One of the Lowest Low tides of the Year

It was that last night, there's another low tide Sat afternoon around 5pm, and prior that one of the highest tides of the year about 11am.
The photo above shows the area beside Rocks Rd, a km or two north of Tahuna Beach.
Its not hard to imagine those old seafarers not looking forward to entering Nelson Haven.
Thats the whole reason they used dynamite to blow a "Cut" in the Boulder Bank to allow shipping a safer passage into Port Nelson.

Monaco - Stoke - Nelson

Many residents live in Nelsons quaint seaside suburb. It juts out from the mainland on its own little peninsula and was a place where in olden times many Nelsonians had their holiday "baches".
As you can see easy of access to water activities is a prime reason many like the area.
