Centre of the photo is the new…

floating 29-metre pontoon wharf, well not really new as it was existing in another location.

But its new to this new home location. Why?

The Nelson Mail quotes Captain Duncan of the port company as saying;

Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle will utilise this pontoon from September to March as a base for its trips to the Abel Tasman National Park, with visiting superyachts able to tie up at the western side

"It's a better location for the superyachts visiting Nelson for access to restaurants, the town and that sort of thing."

All I can say……

….is thank goodness Nelson never experiences these sort

of climatic interludes. Crickey, if we did, then all I could further mention……

…..would be “G*d help the rest of NZ.”

Why?

Because, if like me, you don’t watch the TV news regularly on account of its “incredible positivity”

you may have missed the fact that this past week, many parts of Godsown were, for want of a better term,

…..(in a “guess the car” sort of way) climactically challenged.

But if you’d spotted Jim on Monday or Tuesday night, one thing may have taken your attention….or at least…should of.

That thing……well Nelson, courtesy of our geography, well we were not affected by what happened to the rest of NZ.

Is this a “bespoke” treehouse or what?

I certainly find the joinery, sliding windows and all, appealing?

Ohau Point residents on the move…

It would seem that it wasn’t just the snow that was a major force in everyones thoughts this last few days.

Courtesy of that lovely Polar Blast other residents found it tough too.

No not just Happy Feet, I mean our fine fur covered friends here.

I counted about 5 nearly on the roadway, they were already onto the bitumen,

but luckily for them………..not quite on the main highway laneway this afternoon.

A real Hoverbike…

Yes we had one here in Nelson.

Did it work?

You bet it did!

Sadly its just on display now. (with dummy model onboard)

Actually was locally made too, from bits found at the Nelson Recycling Centre. Made the paper, local TV and even Discovery Channel TV.

A Saturday morning walk…

just doesn’t do the local Tahunanui Beach justice.

Its such a fabulous place to start the day, seagulls flying……………

…..dogs jumping & loving their walk at the beach, even fish jumping too.

well yes we do have our one, wedged in there.

Fantastic Vintage Wagon

but locally its still operational….…and so said….possibly the best advertising medium available.

Certainly most folk in town recognise it and can quote Leo’s name…so something must be working.

After the Storm

Just looked up last Sunday afternoon to see the storm had passed….

….and there right next to it was blue sky….ah Nelson…”its back to usual.”
