Why not?
…couple weeks ago we popped down to Chch for a couple of nights, and even though this is not exactly a Nelson post, I had to take a photo.
Just love the name of this business in downtown Culverden.
…well in a way there was some relevance too, because as a youngster I recall Mum taking me along to Mocketts in Stoke (…long long gone) for my school uniform and of course regulation school shoes. I wonder how far you’d get trying to enforce that regime on some of todays youngsters.

P Class Nationals descended…
on Nelson last week….
….and according to the Nelson Mail 8th Jan 2013…
Earlier, the young sailors in the P Class national yachting championship had also been hit by the storm. The little yachts race well out in Tasman Bay and Captain Duncan said they enjoyed several hours of perfect conditions before the wind "suddenly blew up" to 38 knots (70kmh) during the last race.
….some challenging conditions indeed.

After a family trip to Christchurch…
just a few short days ago….got to say its a pity the NCC (Nelson City Council) can’t see the real benefit to local residents of offering*** a facility like this for local residents.
Early on a Sunday morning this was really & truly occupied ( got a heck of a lot busier after this photo taken…but I was then employed on permanent “pop pushing grand-daughter on swing” duties …..)
*** its free in Hagley Park. Christchurch

One interesting aside from Sunday Nights storm…
is appreciated even more …. in an “after the rainbow” sort of way….
…with the advent of “digital cameras”…
….the cloud formations after the storm passed were amazing…
and then there’s that …well the only way to describe it is….. “that light.”
Dedicated photogs will know………..
….. its something that you only ever see when you have that “combo!”….
and that combo has to consist of only two things….
….a setting sun, low on the horizon, and some really dark clouds above…..
….then….you get a real life natural “bounce flash” effect that you really only see once or twice a year…
… but so special when its there! When they were younger my 2 daughters always knew what was next….outside for photos… “aw Dad, do we have too?”

Travelling through Nelson on a …
…summers morning…and just like many locals…taken completely by “our world famous in NZ” Tahunanui Beach. What better way to enjoy it than a roadside stopover.
