Local region Rugby held their finals just recently and Stoke triumphed.

In light of this, it seemed like a great time for the TUI beer poster advertisement…..

…….on the side of the local pub to be adjusted accordingly.

Belongs on a movie set…

That’s what many say when they see this old Stoke home for the first time.

Have to admit though if you were ever going to film a Haunted Movie lately, this home probably would make a pretty good prop.

Wonder if this is what they are talking about.

What was unusual was the fact that one plane (on the left of the photo) appeared to be conducting a 180 degree turn, very unusual for ours skies.

Saturday 17th July in Nelson is……..

The annual Blessing of the Fishing Fleet day.

Although the weather conspired to offer up a very non-Nelson type of day, many folks still turned out and parking was at a premium around the Quay.

Some of the fleet getting into place pre the ceremony starting this afternoon.

You’ll notice in this panorama that another log ship has just arrived

and is being manoeuvred by both Port Nelson tugs.

The Royal NZ Navy had HMNZS Pukaki there too as part of the official delegation.

All to be prepared for Nelson’s part in the Rugby World Cup 2011.

Usually filled with household rubbish and collected by the local council on a weekly basis…….

…it would seem they can be used for other things too.
