That Sinking Feeling….

driving back from a visit to the council this afternoon

and I glanced out seaward along Wakefield Quay…

“come again….” I said to myself….that doesn’t look right…..usually the Nelson <-> Kateriteri <-> Abel Tasman ferry docks here at the pontoon (as you see in the photo) but no today she was on a different mission…and when I looked a little closer….

 

….. sure enough it definitely wasn’t right.

Not the Landrover?

Question is though….could it really disguise itself in the Kiwi bush….

….a Kiwi take on camouflage for this old skool Landrover. Can just imagine Meryl Streep driving this too!

Even these sailors will surely….

…love Nelson, after all we put the usually Nelson weather on for their arrival.

Guess it had to happen one day…

 

…big city living now transposed onto Nelson suburban sections.

Whether it’s off the pier…..

and Nelson has quite a few publicly accessible sites…

or out for the day in a charter boat, fishing remains a very popular hobby in the Top of the South.

At the end of the line….

was a large object, just about ready to pounce!

Fun was had by all at the Annual Kite Festival in Neale Park last weekend

although there certainly seemed to be an animal theme going on.

Feels just like 1969….

but the photo was taken only just this past week!

Perfect Nelson example…

 

of a NZ character home.

Read that again….

that didn’t quite ……..

get finished down at Tahunanui Beach.

Much Kitesurfing fun…

was happening last night…

this time down the back beach way.

Exercise on the beach…

and what better place to be

than here in Nelson at Tahunanui, or…

in the water nearby.

(one of NSNs fav spots at high tide very near Tahuna Beach)

Nothing as much fun as a Monster Water Sprinkler

is there? And it turns out one was available this afternoon.

Perhaps a council worker forgot to shut it down in time…

…no matter….some kids just created some of the best summertime memories of their lives.

Got a bit carried away with the HDR this morning I did…

original picture here, but when I saw the cloud combinations up there this Saturday morning

it was quite obviously a mixture that was begging to have the HDR treatment.

Great example of Art Deco…

is our sole picture theatre in Nelson.

OK …so the suns not quite out yet…but

down the Marlborough Sounds……

….you can still have ….

….a heck of a lot of fun.

Or…perhaps I’m hinting at the other activities that I should have exposed to you, those that could really only be termed “Jet Ski Heaven.”

Clarity of images is compromised because for the one occasion out of the last 2 years,

I only had a basic camera….

The sun did finally come out….

At the end of the day Pop (that’s me) was incredibly happy though to see son-in-law rowing grandsons (for the first time ever) around the spot where they have summer holiday’d for the last 30 – 40 years.Yup, that there…..that what Xmas is about.
