The Biggest Ever, according to local Newspaper….

reports …  is this little beauty, shes going to take 30,000 tons of logs out of Nelson. Apparently thats the largest ever single shipment ever!

Not the usual suspect at all…

…was this vessel pulling ……into Talleys Nelson waterfront dock this week…

I had envisions of the latest “monster squid find” but alas…

….Kaharoa is but one of NIWAs vessels and she does plenty of other really exciting things…like deploying buoys at sea.

As a teenager growing up in Marsden Rd…

my brother and I, and friends often went walking up here, past the quarry, up into the “hills” back in the 70’s…along with our portable campfire and “Peoples Store” rations to cook up on it….

….but wow how it has changed once the trees have come down.

Tahunanui Beach, Nelson…

….even at this time of year when every day it isn’t always guaranteed to hit 25 degrees…its still popular.

But don’t forget into the equation, its also rated one of New Zealands safest beaches…..?

….karma prevailed…just as I had put my money in and was about to push the button a voice yelled out stop! The lovely lady had a parking voucher for over another hour in her hand, and as my physio appt was only about an hour, I took her up on her offer. Weirdly enough….she had been given it by someone before her!

So Cool to see a bit of history today…
