tourists can be rascals it seems.

That tree…
…greets me every week on my walk around the airport. Must admit, not being a golfer, have always wondered what part it may have played in plenty of Nelsonian golfers games “lining up procedures.”

If you’d ever wondered where Tuna come from…
…here at Port Nelson is a typical “purse seiner” ship, complete with ubiquitous chopper on-board & skiff alongside, for your edification. Australasia's largest fishing port, Port Nelson, frequently has visits from this type of vessel.

As I mentioned last week Nelson is…
Australasia's biggest fishing port and so its not unexpected that there is an vast amount of infrastructure locally…
… to support and retain that title, supporting literally hundreds of local jobs…..
Because at the end of the day no one wants their ship to end its day this way……

Happiest Guy in the World..
…in Nelson..just before sunrise one day last week was this guy…
…on…well quite obviously a golf course…all to himself! Ok he was a paid employee…but “what a job!"
Android 4.2 intro’s a native “Photosphere” …
to the platform…and you me, I tried… but…
..well I’m still trying to master it, and work it out 100%..maybe its the brightness of the sun down under…
…or perhaps I’m guessing it could also be a case of “user experience”…
That, if perfected, would surely piece together better than I can seem to be able to complete/compose currently?
Seems to make you just want to stay with a basic panorama really?

That there is the western end …
of Rabbit Island…(with ubiquitous NZ Pine Forest included…)
…and although its a bit challenging …
…you need to know that there is a channel (centre right) between the Island and the mainland at Mapua. And that’s where the “Flat Bottomed Boat” comes in….buts that another story….

On this one I feel confident…
….bet not many Nelsonians don’t know where on earth this local property is…or do you?
This Site For Sale ~ right now…
… seriously…but only if you can put up with morning views like this…
If you are worried about your neighbours, you needn’t be…there’s millionaires a plenty along this part of our coastline.

Don’t panic….I found her…
berthed up. Though she doesn’t look quite as pretty as she did under full sail?
(Well at least I think, and it certainly looked like, it was full sail?)
Perfect case of 2 is better than 1 here…
and that’s now the way it has to be actually, no choice allowed.
Nelsons Rescue Chopper had to be upgraded to a twin engined version, because of NZ regulations regarding flying near/over suburbia / main roads / hospital requirements.
That said the old squirrel wasn’t sold, turns out we need two choppers in this region, even more reason to have supported last weeks appeal.

A bit disheartened I was last week…
when I saw how much fruit does…
not seem to make it to market…and worse…
does not seem to get into any customers hands at all.
From my observations, and quite obviously I didn’t click fast enough here to provide you with a photo, the only winners on the day….. seem to be local birds!
You really haven’t lived…really…
until you have tried one of our local delicacies.…
…..or maybe you have already done this…
either way.… have fun.
Just pure guessing here…
…but with Port Nelson in sight feeling like the catch of the day isn’t far away now…

Nelson Airport–viewed from…
…from afar…actually from the lookout on top of Princes Drive for those unfamiliar with our town. Low tide in the background too…in case you’re curious.
