well when approaching it for the 1st time you could
be mistaken for thinking it was,
but no alas it is a work of art, …..truly a real labour of love.

inspiration perhaps, or…….
…..or goal setting exercise for this local owner?
but this past weekend, well…….
it was different.
Seems that quite few folk had the same thoughts……
..and those thoughts….
get going now…… better yet…..
……..get out in front of anyone with similar thoughts!
Even if you didn’t have something that was artificially powered
I mean by petrol or diesel it would seem.
……….courtesy of the white stuff on the top of the hills, like Mt Arthur……it seemed winter actually had arrived…..
….but lets not let that spoil the fun on the water….
….while it lasts.
This is Nelson after all.
But when the heavy traffic artillery arrives….
and traverses The Cut….
then its usually for a very good reason……
….and yes size does have something to do with it?
BUT see that’s the real advantage living here….because as this official Port Nelson shipping schedule (aka "timetable") shows you….there really is at least 97% of the time in each day where you are free to come and go via The Cut…..which it seems most people this past weekend were well and truly aware of?
Nelson this Easter was a convoy of Model A Fords….
and from the information available on the vehicles
it looks like they may have been all shipped across here from North America
just for this Rally. These certainly aren’t the only two, there’s been dozens of other similar aged vintage cars spotted all around Nelson this long weekend.
seeing people rugged up this way you’d think Winter was coming…..
……not the usual Nelson weather today but that….
couldn’t delay the next lot ………….
of happy campers going sailing…….
….but “all hands on deck” for provisioning prior to that……
for the Spirit of New Zealand.
According to a staff member they were due to leave at 10am and make their way to Picton…..
and wouldn’t be back in Port Nelson for a while.
UPDATE: actually that staff member wasn’t right, the boat was only on a three day weekend cruise away from Port Nelson, she was there again just after Easter.
………..and actually they don’t make a bad cup of coffee either………..
………..had some on the way down to CHC and on the way back too, though this fella…..well I think he’s had better days.
Vintage sheds are something that are just adored by painters.
Having such a backdrop doesn’t exactly take from the location either.
This one’s location is out on the Appleby Highway before you get to the bridge.
Aprils always a busy month for events in Nelson, and with…..
the Easter holiday break almost upon us, its not going to get any quieter.
Yesterday the Nelson round of the NZ Offroad Racing Championships was contested. And the envelope please…..
This is the model of car that I learnt to drive in.
Come to think of it………I learnt to drive in Nelson, in this type of car, and it was this colour……….hmmm….?
As they are want to do today, its serving out its life in Nelson….some at least 40 years after it was made, as a advertising medium for a local coffee shop.
Must admit it scored a better deal than this Triumph Herald, also spotted locally.
