Reason why their were so many sailboats….

…out in Tasman Bay ….

…this last few days is because …

…the oldest Yacht Club in New Zealand, the Nelson Yacht Club is hosting the 2014 NZ Laser National Champs.

They are on from 16th - 19th Jan 2014.

Note to self…

…won an auction for a budget old timer, wanting to stick my Canon Point & Shoot on it and set camera to timelapse mode, …see what happens….and for $5, thought it was worth trying out anyway. Guess the xray scanners at the mail centre had other ideas….? Result - package delayed.

Sunny but then the wind got up..

the jump off point is near on 600m above sea level

and the trip down to the Ngawhatu Reserve is around 2.75km.

….while I was on the way to town for an appt this morning….I look out towards the sea…and….

And it doesn’t take anymore than parking your vehicle at the end of Parkers Rd (Google will help you here) to be able to take monster  advantage of all this beach so close to the tarseal!

but let me tell you there was only two causalities in the whole day…

and they were both of the same breed. Two hats….not held down enough…

luckily one was rescued via hook and sinker but the other one…oh dear gone forever ….

Turns out NZ had the warmest winter ever in 2013, and according to stats….the 2nd warmest year on record.

Puts a bit of perspective (no disrespect intended) onto how others are being treated this Northern Hemisphere winter I suggest?

Wow that’s a serious figure as far as world wide terms are considered. (Google it to chk the facts)

Considering what's happening to the world wide weather….your window to buy a property in what some are suggesting  might become the Southern Hemispheres new “Mediterranean” is really and truly ….& quite literally …..slowly disappearing!  But hey there can be REAL advantages too!!!!
